Linting (#7)

* Add linting

- separate testing / dev / common dependencies
- Add Ruff for linting and formatting
- Add Pylint for more in-depth linting
  - Currently disable documentation checks, fix this issue and remove "disable" clauses
- Add both to CI
- Add how to run to the readme
- Create shared test fixtures
- Remove duplicate code in tests
- Make more methods private
